Lord Slynn of Hadley

(in memorium) GBE, PC, QC (17 February 1930–7 April 2009) was a British jurist specialising in European and International Law and a former judge of the European Court of Justice and Lord of Appeal in Ordinary.

Lord Slynn was the president of the CEEMC almost since its inception for which we are eternally grateful.

He was the author of the original welcome message on our moot site and we have set out his words below:-

"The Central and East European Law Moot competition is one of the most important events in the student's calendar. Over the years we have had many teams from Universities and Law Schools throughout the region and further afield. The standards have been high, the subjects very relevant in additoin the atmosphere has been very friendlym the weekend enoyable for everybody, judges, coaches, teams. No one should be afraid to come even if preparing takes a lot of work.

With (10) Member States and others to follow, the competition is even more relevant for their universities and those in neighbouring states.

Make sure your university sends a team. I look foward to seeing you in (Zagreb). "

(written for 2006 competition)
