The BLC has been linked with the Centre for European Legal Studies since 1992, when it was first founded under the directorship of Prof W.R Cornish. These links continue under its present director Prof Catherine Barnard.

In 2007 BLC and CELS co-hosted a conference on the European Law in Warsaw, which was chaired by Lord Slynn of Hadley (a great supporter of BLC who will be sadly missed) and Prof James Crawford (then Chairman of Law Faculty of University of Cambridge). Other University of Cambridge speakers included Prof Alan Dashwood and Prof Catherine Barnard . The conference reunited a number of BLC graduates who have themselves pursued academic careers specialising in European Union law at European Institute in Florence, Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and other academic centres of excellence.
