CLD Assessment<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

You can choose to either graduate the Diploma by writing a client memorandum on your chosen subject-area from the course, or to take a Certificate of Attendance without completing any written work at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Certificate of Attendance or Diploma in Commercial Law<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\n

If you do not complete any written work at the end of the CLD course, you will be entitled to a Certificate of Attendance.<\/p>\n

If you wish to graduate with the Diploma in Commercial Law, issued by Juris Angliae Scientia, you must complete one piece of written work at the end of the course.<\/p>\n

You will choose which topic area you prefer to write on, and then prepare a client memorandum advising your client on a commercial issue concerning your chosen area of law.<\/p>\n

You will have approx. 1 month to prepare the written work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

We will help you to prepare for writing the memorandum, during practical workshops that take place throughout the course and by providing you with written and video guidance on how to prepare a memorandum.<\/p>\n

When must I decide if I want to write the memorandum or simply take a Certificate of Attendance?<\/h5>

You decide whether you wish to write the memorandum or simply take a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

How is the memorandum assessed?<\/h5>

The assessment is assessed on a simple Pass\/Fail basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The full criteria for assessing the memorandum are provided to you during the course. In essence, we review the following issues:<\/p>\n

- your knowledge of your chosen topic area<\/p>\n

- the relevacy of your discussion and advice<\/p>\n

- your abilty to and communicate your advice to the client<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

How long should the client memorandum be?<\/h5>

There is no word limit but we anticipate that the memorandum will be between 2,000 to 4,000 words, ensuring thorough coverage of the topic while maintaining clarity and conciseness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Can I choose any topic for the memorandum?<\/h5>

We provide you with at least 3 potential questions from you to choose from, spanning the topic areas on the CLD.YOu choose which topic you wish to answer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

What sources should I use to prepare the memorandum?<\/h5>

We provide you with all materials that you will need to prepare the client memorandum. There is no need for you to conduct any additional, independent research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

What happens if I fail the assessment?<\/h5>

We aim to ensure that this won't happen. Our workshops and guidance will ensure that you are able to pass the assessment. However, if you fail and wish to return to the CLD next year, you can do so for a heavily-reduced fee. Alternatively, you may take a Certificate of Attendance instead of the full Diploma.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Who awards the Commercial Law Diploma?<\/h5>

As with your DELLS Diploma, the CLD Diploma is awarded by Juris Angliae Scientia (JAS) and signed either by Prof. Richard Fentiman or by Prof. on behalf of JAS.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
