At Warsaw, the course is taught over 2 semesters. Across the whole academic year, you will receive:
1. "Lecture Weeks": In each of the 14 Lecture weeks across the course, a lecture happens on Monday-Friday at 18.30-20.00 in Sala A2 (Collegium Iuridicum II).
2. "Class Weeks": There are 2 types of small-group meetings: “tutorials” and “seminars”. Collectively, we refer to seminars and tutorials as "classes" Both types of class last for 90-minutes. In each of the 14 Class Weeks across the course, you will have one seminar and one tutorial (i.e. 3hrs of classes each Class Week).
We structure the timetable so that in each week, you will have either lectures or classes, but not both.
In each Class Week, we teach you how to practically apply the law that was discussed in lectures the week before. This is part of the the BLC's 'learning-by-doing- philosophy. It can only be done effectively in small, interactive groups. Lectures also involve discussion, but nothing like in comparison with small-group classes.
The time for lectures is fixed at 18:30-20:00 but you will have a choice of seminar times and tutorial times.
On UW USOS, the class times may be described as Group 1, Group 2 etc. but this does not mean that you need to choose the 'Group 1' time for both tutorials and seminars. You can mix-and-match so that it best fits your timetable.
We will send you instructions on how to register for your preferred tutorial and seminar times after we meet you in the Introductory Meeting in October.
After you have chosen your tutorial and seminar time, please ensure that you attend your chosen classes. If an important reason requires you - exceptionally - to attend a different class time in a particular Class Week, please discuss this with us rather than simply attending a class that you are not registered for.
It is possible to change the times of your classes in semester 2, if your UW WPiA timetable changes.
Merely by way of example, you can click here to see the range of times at which you can expect the BLC to hold tutorials and seminars.
When looking at that classes timetable, please remember that you will only attend one tutorial and one seminar from this list, not all of them!
