1. Purpose of the Policy
This Policy sets our expectations and rules regarding your participation in BLC online meetings held via Zoom or any other videoconferencing platform.
Online meetings are intended to replicate the standards of engagement, professionalism, and academic integrity expected during in-person meetings. You are required to comply with this Policy in order to ensure that meetings operate effectively and that the learning environment remains respectful and academically appropriate.

You must not share meeting links with individuals who are not enrolled in the relevant BLC programme or class.

3. Camera Use
We expect you to have your camera switched on for the majority of the meeting, wherever this is practicable in the circumstances.
This expectation aims to make engagement and discussion as comparable to an in-person class as possible.
We accept that it may not always be possible to have your camera switched-on, and that you may temporarily need to switch-off your camera due to technical limitations, connectivity issues, or other reasonable circumstances. In general, however, please ensure that your camera is switched-on.

Participation in a class meeting must involve your active presence as the registered Course participant.
5. Recording of Meetings
The following rules apply as regards the recording of BLC online meetings.
5.1 Independent Recording
You must not independently record any BLC Zoom meeting, whether by using Zoom’s recording functionality or by any other means (including screen recording, audio recording, or screenshots), unless explicit permission has been granted by the instructor. Unauthorised recording or distribution of BLC online meetings may constitute a breach of institutional policies relating to privacy or intellectual property.
5.2 Availability of Recordings
As a general rule:
- Recordings of class meetings are not routinely made available through the BLC website or online platforms.
If you have been unable to attend a specific meeting on reasonable grounds (for example illness, examination commitments, or other significant circumstances), you may request access to a recording of that meeting where such a recording exists.
Not all BLC meetings are recorded, and we do not give that any guarantee that a recording will exist for any particular meeting.
It is at our absolute discretion whether or not we agree to provide you with a recording. If, for whatever reason, we decide that it is not possible or appropriate to share a particular recording with you, we may choose to provide you with an alternative recording (e.gt. from another meeting regarding the same subject), or not to provide any recording at all.
The rules on Independent Recording of meetings apply, modified as appropriate, to situations when we supply you with a recording of an online BLC meeting.
All requests to access recordings should be made by emailing: diploma@britishlawcentre.co.uk
